A wonderful place that one should definitely see in Florence is Giardino delle rose or The Rose Garden - an amazing park in Florence in the area of Oltrarno, Tuscany, below Piazzale Michelangelo to the west, in Viale Giuseppe Poggi. It was created by architect Giuseppe Poggi in 1865, commissioned by the municipality of Florence as the city was going to be the new capital of Italy.
The Garden opens its doors from 9 am in the morning to sunset. It welcomes lovers of nature and roses, visitors, tourists to admire the beautiful panorama, have picnic, take a good rest, have wonderful photos and of course enjoy the sweet smell of the roses throughout the whole park.
In 1998 the garden was enriched with a space donated by the Japanese work of architect Yasuo Kitayama.
You can find colorful roses, lemon trees and different type of plants at the garden. If you go further you can find a statue of a man with the head of fish, another statute having fellow figure with hat, long coat and only with nose. You can also see a tiger-like statue in the middle of the fountain full of colorful fishes and covered with water lilies. On the very top of the garden you will find a suitcase-statue with a small boat inside. Standing face-to-face with this statue you can admire the astonishing panorama of the whole city- Florence.
