Istituto Europeo: Staff Profile: Rinaldo Romagnoli

Rinaldo Romagnoli
Founder and President
A native of Siena, Italy, Rinaldo Romagnoli founded Istituto Europeo in 1988 with the principle objective of promoting Italian language and culture to international students. As a professor in art and graphics, a publicist, a scholar, and a writer, Rinaldo has immersed himself into the world of museums, publications, cultural centers, and language institutes in Florence, in direct collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has organized various artistic (sculpture, paintings, photography, fashion) and cultural gatherings in the city of Florence.

Information: Florence to Host First Annual Gelato Festival


The first annual gelato festival will be held in Florence from Friday May 28 to Monday May 31, 2010.

The festival hours are 10:00 a.m - 11:00 p.m. May 28th - May 30th and 10:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m. May 31st.

The piazzas participating in the event are Piazza SS Annunziata, Piazza San Giovanni, Piazza della Repubblica(Caffe`Giubbe Rosse), Piazza Strozzi, Palazzo Vecchio.

Entrance to festival is free. Taste cards can be purchased online or at the "information points" in Piazza SS Annunziata and Piazza S Giovanni di Firenze during the festival or at the bookshop at the tourist office in Piazza della Stazione 4 from May 25 - 31 between 10:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. Cards can also be purchased at gelaterias participating in the festival. One taste card costs €1 and five taste cards costs €5.

*Gelato is said to have been first created by Florentine architect and artist Bernardo Buontalenti, for the court of Francesco de' Medici in 1565. In a recent region-wide competition, Tuscan gelato artisans created a gelato flavor called Buontalenti, homage to the Renaissance artist.

Istituto Europeo: Italian Language Courses at Istituto Europeo


Istituto Europeo offers eight different levels of Italian courses ranging from beginner to advanced. Students who have already had some Italian language instruction will be administered a placement test upon arrival in Florence in order to determine the level of Italian in which they will be placed.

IE's teaching method of Italian language, based on the most innovative concepts of language instruction, gives students the opportunity to live the language on all levels and learn its spoken and written usage. Attention is placed both on the correct use of grammar and syntax as well as on the use of everyday language.

In today's competitive global work environment, it is increasingly important to demonstrate international work experience. Interning abroad not only gives individuals international work experience but also provides a highly marketable resume experience.

Istituto Europeo's internship program is dedicated to providing an enriching and enlightening experience as interns achieve international work experience in Florence.

Internships are offered year round and begin on specific dates every month. Applications are due 60 days prior to the start date of the internship.

All placements are tailored to meet the individual's needs, meaning that the internship is based on the length of stay, career field, and the applicant's academic and experiential background. Students have worked as interns at art galleries, soccer camps, hotels, sports facilities, wine production facilities, and fashion institutes.

Istituto Europeo was founded in 1988 and is located in the heart of Florence on Via del Parione. Since its inception, Istituto Europeo has specialised in teaching Italian language, art, music, and culture to students from all over the world. The institute offers semester/academic year and summer courses in Italian Language, History, Art, Architecture, Literature, Film, and Music, as well as a variety of internship opportunities with Florentine businesses and organizations.

We are accredited through Jacksonville University and our courses are widely accepted by many U.S. colleges and universities.
