What does Florence mean for me? Simple things: life, beauty, pleasure, food, wine. Every time I return to Florence I am enchanted by this town. In Singapore, where I teach, life has another style, another pace. Singapore is a modern country without history. I cannot breathe the same atmosphere there that I breathe in Florence. In Florence, history is alive; the memory of princes, duchesses, painters and sculptors is something palpable and accomplishable. In Singapore, I teach philosophy and philosophy of architecture, but I need to leave that city once a year and fly to Florence, which is certainly paradise for someone like me who can't help regenerating in this amazing environment. I originally come from South Italy, Lucania, but when I stay in Florence, I never miss my origins. It's like my real roots are here. Here I find the sameness, the unity of opposites that are daily overpowering my two-world-life, but my hope is to live here for good, one day.

Florence People: David Trudu, a Florencia por amor.

Mi nombre es David, tengo 36 años y vengo de Porto Cervo, Cerdeña, la increíble Cerdeña, mi casa.

En Porto Cervo trabajé como camarero en un bar para gente VIP. Cada día conocía a gente rica y de la clase alta. Tenía largas e interesantes conversaciones con ellos, sobre la vida, la política y la economía. Después de trabajar, me bañaba en el mar azul de Cerdeña. Me encantaba mi trabajo. Me encantaba Cerdeña y Porto Cervo.

Ahora trabajo en el restaurante Moyé en Florencia.

Vine a Florencia por amor. El amor es un gran motor, como dijo Aristóteles, que mueve todo tu alrededor mientras permanece inamovible.

Estoy ahora en Florencia porque mi pareja es originaria de Florencia. Ahora vivo en esta hermosa ciudad. Un museo al aire libre, una pieza viva de la historia donde la traidición y la innovación se entrelazan día a día, donde la belleza está incrustrada, , donde el arte y la volumetría arquitectónica se transpiran desde los antiguos muros de cada palacio.

Desde que vivo aquí he desarrollado un sentido de la estética que nunca antes había tenido.

Antes me encantaba la vida sencilla, la comida, el vino, mi trabajo; ahora también la arquitectura, y la belleza.
