Holiday Cheer has arrived in Florence and today kicks off the first day of one of the city’s most popular Christmas markets in Piazza Santa Croce. This German Christmas market (mercato tedesco di Natale) is composed of 55 booths that look like little wooden houses. With goods from over 16 countries, it is the perfect place to start on Christmas shopping for loved ones. You will find ornaments, decorations, wreaths, nativity scenes, holiday pottery, winter clothing and lots of handmade gifts at the mercato. It is also a great place to browse while munching on German bratwurst and beer or to enjoy a warm cup of mulled wine. This year there are a few booths that focus on goods Made in Tuscany as well. The market begins today, November 30th and will come down on Sunday, December 18th. It is open from 10 AM to 10 PM each day.
